About Me
I am a Clinical Herbalist, Holistic Gynecologist, Licensed Midwife, and medicine maker. I offer Clinical Herbal Consultations for acute and chronic conditions such as low immunity, digestive issues, urinary tract infections, anxiety, depression, sleep disorders and chronic pain, as well as sexual and reproductive concerns including chronic vaginal infections, HPV support, cervical dysplasia, fibroids, menstrual irregularities, infertility and menopause.
My Experience
I have provided care in a wide variety of settings including integrated community clinics, remote rural villages of southern Mexico, borderland birthing centers and homeless encampments of West Oakland. As a Licensed Midwife, in addition to Midwifery Care, I have worked as a provider for the state of New Mexico offering Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention services. I have been involved in community-led healthcare since the mid 1990's when I worked at the Berkeley Free Clinic as a medic. As a community health worker, I have facilitated self-help workshops to guide people in looking at and understanding their own reproductive anatomy. I have recently trained in the clinical foundations of Ayurvedic medicine which has complimented and deepened my formal training in Western Clinical Herbalism and Midwifery.
I have spent 25 years studying botanical medicine and thanks to my many great teachers, have knowledge and experience of the healing properties of hundreds of medicinal plants. I have studied and collected the medicinal plants of the Western Cascades, the Coast Range of the Pacific Northwest, the Sierra and Central Valley of California, the deserts and mountains of the Southwestern states, and the canyons and highlands of Southern Mexico.
I am passionate about health education with an emphasis on self-care strategies, and am excited to share about the potent medicine of plants to promote community health and resilience.
